چکیده

A nano-scale decanuclear Zn(II) circular helicate is synthesized without the aid of counteranions during the assembly process, and can be totally disassembled into its reactants by specific anions.

Controlling the formation of metallosupramolecular assemblies by metal ionic radiiw

Controlling the structure of multi-component assemblies is one of the leading challenges for the supramolecular chemist. One of the simplest assemblies is the dinuclear doublestranded helicate, and the rules that govern the formation of this species are largely established. The formation of the helicates’ higher nuclearity cousin, the cyclic helicate, is conversely less well understood. One of ...

Isolation and characterization of the first circular single-stranded polymetallic lanthanide-containing helicate.

A thorough examination of the disassembly of bimetallic triple-stranded lanthanide helicates [Ln2(Li)3]6+ (stoichiometry S = m/n = 2/3 = 0.67, global complexity GC = m + n = 2 + 3 = 5) in excess of metals shows the competitive formation of standard linear bimetallic complexes [Ln2(Li)2]6+ (S= 1.0, GC = 4), and circular trimetallic single-stranded helicates [Ln3(Li)3]9+ (S= 1.0, GC = 6).

Structural variation in cation-assisted assembly of high-nuclearity Mn arsonate and phosphonate wheels.

Comproportionation reactions between MnCl2 and KMnO4 in the presence of arsonate or phosphonate ligands promote the cation-assisted assembly of high-nuclearity, wheel-shaped or toroidal {Mn8} () and {Mn24} () complexes; the closely corresponding reaction systems provide insights into the complexation behaviour of homologous phosphonate/arsonate ligand species.

Palladium(II) driven self-assembly of a saturated quadruple-stranded metallo helicate.

Complexation of the bridging bidentate ligand N,N'-(pyridine-2,6-diyl)dinicotinamide, L with palladium(II) resulted in a single discrete M(2)L(4) self-assembly, 1, in a quantitative manner. The entropically-controlled assembly of 1 resulted in a rare saturated, quadruple-stranded metallo-helicate, in which both the left-handed (M) and right-handed (P) helicates exist in the crystal structure.

A triple helix of double helicates: three hierarchical levels of self-assembly in a single structure.

The bis-bidentate bridging ligand L reacts with Ag(I) ions to form a conventional dinuclear [Ag(2)L(2)](2+) double helicate; individual double helicate units assemble via Ag···Ag interactions into infinite chains, three of which wrap around a central spine of anions to give a triple helical braid, which is therefore an infinite triple helix composed of molecular double helicate subunits.
